Amir describes the look the Hassan had immediately before being raped as one similar to a sheep being sacrificed for a religious holiday. The animal he describes can be correlated to Hassan and the higher purpose can be correlated to himself. This idea plays on the social class system that truly separates Pashtun (Amir) and Hazara (Hassan). Due to Hassan's lower level in the social class system this creates Amir as the higher purpose therefore to say that Hassan's imminent demise of being raped is justified due to Amir's superior social status.
